Cairo is one of the most important and oldest Islamic cities in the world. Besides, it is one of the most prosperous centers of the ancient civilizations, such as Pharaonic, Greek, Roman, and Coptic. Cairo is situated in the north-east corner of Africa, surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea from the north and the Red Sea from the east, which is at the crossing point of different cultures between Africa, Middle East and the Mediterranean. Even though it is bounded by deserts of North Africa, Egypt has flourished with the Nile River, which provides the only cultivated land in the whole country.
